Foreign guests and Colombians residing outside the country are exempt from paying 19% VAT when contracting a tourist package (accommodation and services). They will only have to pay 8% consumption tax. A TP-11 tourist visa or 5/PTP-5 permit must be presented upon arrival. In accordance with article 17 of Law 679 of 2001, it is noted that the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors in the country are classified as criminal and civil crimes according to current legislation. Children must be accompanied by their parents and present an identity document. If they travel accompanied by another adult without family ties or another relative, they must also present an authorization signed before a notary by both parents.
